Ingredients

  • 0.5 medium Cucumber
  • 3 tablespoons Hummus
  • 0.5 teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 pinch Ground Cumin

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cucumber: Safety Step: Peel the cucumber completely. The skin can be tough and difficult for toddlers to chew.
  2. Cut the cucumber in half lengthwise, then slice into thin spears (about the size of an adult finger). Avoid cutting into round 'coins' as these are a choking risk.
  3. If using store-bought hummus, check the label for low sodium content. If making at home, blend chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and olive oil until very smooth.
  4. Scoop a generous portion of hummus into the center of a small toddler-safe plate.
  5. Arrange the cucumber spears around the hummus.
  6. Optional: Lightly sprinkle a tiny pinch of ground cumin over the hummus for extra flavor and to aid digestion.
  7. Drizzle a few drops of extra virgin olive oil over the hummus to add healthy fats for brain development.
  8. Show your toddler how to dip the cucumber spear into the hummus. Supervise closely during eating.
