Sweet Potato & Oat Teething Bars

These chewy, homemade bars are perfect for soothing sore gums while providing a boost of fiber and vitamins. The combination of soft sweet potato and ground oats creates a firm yet safe texture for babies practicing their pincer grasp. They are naturally sweet and easy for little hands to hold.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rolled Oats
  • 1 cup Cooked Sweet Potato
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Chia Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the rolled oats into a food processor and pulse until they reach a fine, flour-like consistency.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the oat flour, mashed sweet potato, melted butter, chia seeds, vanilla, and cinnamon until a thick dough forms.
  4. Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  5. Use a knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough into small rectangular bars, roughly the size of an adult finger.
  6. Arrange the bars on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes, flipping them over halfway through the cooking time.
  7. Allow the bars to cool completely on the tray to firm up before serving.
