Steamed Broccoli Florets

A perfect first finger food. These soft-steamed florets are easy for babies to hold and explore. Rich in Vitamin C for a strong immune system and fiber for healthy digestion.

Ingredients

  • 1 head Broccoli
  • 2 cups Water

Instructions

  1. Wash the broccoli thoroughly under cold running water.
  2. Cut the broccoli into large florets, keeping about 2-3 inches of the stem attached. This long stem acts as a 'handle' for babies who can't yet open their hand to release food.
  3. Place the florets in a steamer basket over boiling water.
  4. Cover and steam for 6-8 minutes. The broccoli should be bright green and soft enough that the thickest part of the stem can be easily pierced with a fork.
  5. Crucial Safety Test: Press a floret between your thumb and forefinger; it should squish easily with minimal pressure.
  6. Rinse briefly under cold water to stop the cooking process and prevent the broccoli from becoming mushy.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving. Offer one floret at a time to your baby.
