Millet & Apple Porridge

A smooth, creamy porridge made with iron-rich millet and gently stewed apple. Millet is one of the most easily digestible grains and provides magnesium, phosphorus, and B vitamins. A wonderful alternative to oat-based porridges for babies just starting solids.

Ingredients

  • 60 grams Millet
  • 1 medium Apple
  • 250 ml Water
  • 1 teaspoon Unsalted Butter
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Rinse the millet under cold running water and drain well.
  2. Place the millet and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  3. Cover and simmer for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the millet is very soft and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  4. While the millet cooks, peel and core the apple. Dice into small pieces.
  5. In a separate small pan, cook the apple pieces with a splash of water over medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes until completely soft.
  6. Mash the cooked apple with a fork until smooth.
  7. Stir the mashed apple and butter into the cooked millet. Add a pinch of cinnamon.
  8. Add extra water or milk if the porridge is too thick. Serve warm at a scoopable consistency.
