Millet & Apple Porridge

A smooth, creamy porridge made with iron-rich millet and gently stewed apple. Millet is one of the most easily digestible grains and provides magnesium, phosphorus, and B vitamins. A wonderful alternative to oat-based porridges for babies just starting solids.
Ingredients
- 60 grams Millet
- 1 medium Apple
- 250 ml Water
- 1 teaspoon Unsalted Butter
- 0.25 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
Instructions
- Rinse the millet under cold running water and drain well.
- Place the millet and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
- Cover and simmer for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the millet is very soft and has absorbed most of the liquid.
- While the millet cooks, peel and core the apple. Dice into small pieces.
- In a separate small pan, cook the apple pieces with a splash of water over medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes until completely soft.
- Mash the cooked apple with a fork until smooth.
- Stir the mashed apple and butter into the cooked millet. Add a pinch of cinnamon.
- Add extra water or milk if the porridge is too thick. Serve warm at a scoopable consistency.
