Broccoli & Sweet Potato Mash

A vibrant and mild-tasting mash that introduces your baby to the earthy flavor of broccoli softened by the natural sweetness of sweet potato. High in fiber and Vitamin C.
Ingredients
- 1 medium Sweet Potato
- 100 grams Broccoli
Instructions
- Wash, peel, and dice the sweet potato into small cubes.
- Wash the broccoli and cut it into small florets, removing any tough parts of the stem.
- Place the sweet potato cubes in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover and steam for 10 minutes.
- Add the broccoli florets to the steamer and continue steaming for another 5-7 minutes, or until both are very tender when pierced with a fork.
- Transfer the vegetables to a bowl. For a 6-month-old, use a blender to create a completely smooth puree.
- As your baby gets older, you can transition to using a fork to create a 'textured mash' instead of a smooth puree.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of breast milk, formula, or the steaming water to reach the desired consistency.
- Stir in a half-teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil to help your baby absorb the fat-soluble vitamins.
